Editing the WC INI

Most of the DLL File INI (WC.ini) settings will not need to be edited.  However, there are some settings that you may want to change:

  • AdminAccount - specify the Network User Account that is required to access the Web Connection Server Settings page.  This gives you a measure of security from people snooping around and potentially altering your settings.

Note: if you are using a domain level account, you must enter the domain\username in this setting (e.g. AdminAccount=ACE\awsa).

  • ExeFile - this setting should include the full path to the production version of ACEweb (e.g. C:\Inetpub\Aceweb\AW3.exe). Setting this value allows you to remotely stop and start ACEweb in File Mode using the Kill a Server and Start New Server links on the Web Connection Server Settings page.  If you are running in COM Mode, this setting is used by the Update Code Online (i.e. when upgrading ACEweb).
  • UpdateFile - for those who are running ACEweb in COM Mode, this setting should include the full path to the Updates file for ACEweb upgrades (e.g. C:\Inetpub\aceweb\Updates\AW3.exe). This allows you to upgrade ACEweb without shutting it down.
  • AdminPage - this setting tells the system where the Web Connection Server Maintenance page is located.

To edit the WC.ini settings:

  1. Open the Web Connection Server Maintenance page.
  2. Click the Edit Configuration Files link.
  3. There are two windows on the Editing Configuration Files page.  The WC.ini settings appear in the first window (i.e. DLL File INI Settings).  To make changes, scroll down to the appropriate setting and edit the entry.  When you have made all your changes, click the Update DLL INI File button to update the INI settings.
